The Zombies Saturday 15th May

Legendary British Invasion innovators The Zombies are right up there with The Beatles and The Beach Boys when it comes to influential '60s bands.  The presentation of the Zombies will be one of the most auspicious events in the eleven year history of Blues at the Fort.  Everyone will know the classic numbers and most will know the words.  Get your tickets early.

The legendary Zombies were formed in 1959 in St Albans and led by Rod Argent on piano and Colin Blunstone on vocals.  The band scored US hits in the mid- and late-1960s with "She's Not There", "Tell Her No", and "Time of the Season".[1] Their 1968 album Odessey and Oracle, comprised of twelve songs by the group's principal songwriters, Argent and Chris White, is now considered one of the best of its time and is ranked 80 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. The Zombies are right up there with The Beatles and The Beach Boys when it comes to influential '60s bands.

Mojo Magazine recently presented the original line-up Zombies with Classic Album Award for Odessey & Oracle.Gruff Rhys of the Super Furry Animals handed over the award and said later of The Zombies’ Odessey and Oracle, “It’s been an influence on all my work”... ...

Speaking after the event Rod Argent said: “I'm thrilled that we've received this award. It's so gratifying that 42 years after we made the album it should still seem so relevant to so many contemporary artists. Just at the ceremony, Paul Weller commented that Odessey & Oracle was his favourite album, and the Fleet Foxes said to us how inspirational they had found it.” Chris White added: “It was a pleasure to receive the Classic Album award; to have recognised the importance of an album we created so long ago, one that still affects and inspires young musicians today and has the respect of so many of our peers.”
