Saturday

Saturday will start earlier this year with the event opening from 4pm and with the first act on stage at 5pm. This will give a real opportunity to chill out at the start of summer, taking advantage of the fabulous Fort Purbrook venue.

The Saturday programme features an extended line up of eclectic blues and roots reggae leading up to a performance from the legendary Zombies with Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent.

Riotous Brothers - 5:00pm

The Riotous Brothers, a Blues at the Fort Favourite, and very popular locally, open the show on Saturday with a set of powerhouse urban blues.   This superb blend of great musicians and songwriters are on stage at 5pm; not to be missed.

Chicago Thieves - 6:45pm

The Chicago Thieves are new to Blues at the Fort and provide a rock solid set of Blues-Rock.    The five piece Sussex band has enough energy to power a small fleet of motor vehicles. It's a fuel that burns full-throttle, ignited by the heat of soulful vocals, soaring guitar riffs and a grooving rhythm section that sets the house rockin' with power and passion.

Jerimiah Marques and the Blue Aces - 8:00pm

Jerimiah Marques and the Blue Aces played Blues at the Fort in 2008 and immediately entered the Blues at the Fort Favourites category.  The emphasis is on deep Chicago Blues, which transports the listener to the blues heyday of the 1950,s and the magic sounds of Howling Wolf and Muddy Waters. The band will then switch to another different groove, that of Roots Reggae, as exemplified by Toots and the Maytals. The key to this great combination is the charismatic Jerimiah Marques, a vocal master of both musical styles and a performer who has to be seen live in order to appreciate his electrifying talent.

The Zombies - 10:00pm

Legendary British Invasion innovators The Zombies are right up there with The Beatles and The Beach Boys when it comes to influential '60s bands.  The presentation of the Zombies will be one of the most auspicious events in the eleven year history of Blues at the Fort.  Everyone will know the classic numbers and most will know the words.  Get your tickets early.
